Jeepers Creepers

Key generic codes and conventions throughout the film are:

Loud fast pace non-diegetic sound when the villain is near or approaching which sounds very dramatic to show there is danger. The fast pace music creates tension in the situation and builds up the dilemma.
The Villain wears dark clothing to connote mysterious and suspicion because you can’t see his face which is covered in thick black layers. Black connotes evil which is typical representation of a villain.
Over should shot of looking behind them builds of a feeling that some ones behind them as well as being chased by the villain in long shot, showing the distance between them to.
Isolated setting which is a back way deserted highway with no other cars creates a feeling that theirs no help. This is the same setting through out creates a feeling never being able to leave.
Eerie creepy non-diegetic sound at the beginning helps create a thrilling beginning and help set the scene as well as making the audience aware what genre it is.
A car is constant prop through out the film which helps the villain and the siblings escape and travel

The Narrative Structure
The narrative structure consists a clear lineal sequence. The equilibrium- The film chronicles a day in the life of a young pair of siblings, Trish and her brother Dary drive through North florida, Disruption-another driver tries to run them off the road, Realisation-After letting the vehicle pass them, they see the same driver tossing what looks to be bodies, wrapped in blood-stained sheets, into a large pipe line sticking out of the ground adjacent to an abandoned church, Disruption-After the driver passes them a second time, Equilibrium- Darry insists they go back and investigate, Disruption- At the bottom, he finds hundreds of bodies sewn together.Realisation The Creeper catches up and captures Darry

The disruptions within the Narrative are:
Diver tries to run them off the road

It clear that through out the film the disruption is when the villian appraoches or when something bad happens or dies



Key Scenes that help to forge the narrative
Trish and Darry drive through the countryside in North Florida country side
A driver runs them off the road which introduces the Villian
· they see the same driver tossing what looks to be bodies, wrapped in blood-stained sheets, into a large pipe line sticking out of the ground adjacent to an abandoned church.
Darry insists they go back and investigate
Darry falls down the pipe, at the bottom, he finds hundreds of bodies sewn together, covering the walls of a massive cavern underneath the church
Darry is traumatized from it all
He and Trish flee the scene and stop at a gas station where they contact the police
They are phoned by a local psychic, Gezelle Gay Hartman, who warns them about the danger they face
· Word arrives that the old church had gone up in flames and all evidence of any bodies has been destroyed.
· Darry and Trish try to get help from a local eccentric, but the killer catches up to them and kills her. They manage to hit the killer with their car, and run him over several times
· After crushing the body they realize its inhuman nature when it's wings, thus far unseen, begin flapping around.
· The Creeper attacks the police station and gains entrance to the jail cells. After it feasts on prisoners it is swarmed by police, but it kills a number of them
· Gezelle guides Trish and Darry upstairs, telling them one of them will die, screaming in the dark while the song Jeepers Creepers plays in the background
· The Creeper heads towards Gezelle and sniffs her,realizes that she is not scared of him, and heads off to find the siblings.
· The Creeper catches up and captures Darry
· Creeper kills Darry, Creeper in it's new hideout, an abandoned boiler factory
· Darry's head, it has consumed his eyes, leaving him an eyeless, motionless corpse. The song "Jeepers Creepers" plays in the background.

· Darry= Hero (lets The Creeper take him instead of his sister)
· Trish= Princess ( needs saving from the Creeper)
· Gazelle= Helper ( tells them info bout the Creeper and know when he’s coming)
· Police Officer=Donor (gives them protection)
· The Creeper= The Villain
